Brown Brothers Wines
Brown Brothers is a leading Australian family winery founded by John Francis Brown in 1889. Today it is still owned and run by the Brown Family and produces one of the largest wine varietal ranges in Australia and arguably the world.
The Brown Brothers Winery is located in Milawa, Victoria and is supplied by grapes from five family-owned vineyards in the state of Victoria. These 5 very different vineyards provide a diversity of climate and soil type that enables an enormous range of different grape varieties to be grown.
Brown Brothers prides itself on innovation and is renowned for its Kindergarten Winery, a mini-winery devoted to the research and development of new winemaking practices and working with new grape varieties.
Brown Brothers’ other passion is matching wine and food. The successful Epicurean Centre restaurant in Milawa is open to the public and its dedicated team matches the range of award winning wines to delicious recipes.
Flavour Association
For many years Brown Brothers have been exploring the links between food and wine. One way to study these links is to look at Flavour Compounds and aromas which are present in both grape varieties and also in food-stuffs.
The Flavour Association Workshop explores some of these Flavour Compounds and aromas and discusses how a simple bridge can be made between food and wine by simply incorporating the flavours naturally present in wines into dishes.
Penny Fear
Penny Fear is responsible for Brown Brothers Wines in conjunction with importers and distributors across 18 different markets in Europe. A major part of Penny’s role is in Wine Education – vital when working with such a diverse range. Penny has developed a passion for bringing the many wine styles to life through tastings and Flavour Association Workshops during which consumers are actively encouraged to participate in a way which they will find memorable and enjoyable.
